ASP June 11th
The Survival in the Island
Our group decided to bring the stuff only for hobby. Of course MY opinion is a little different.
I think knife is very important because it help us cut foods, meat and even wood for house. Medicines are also important because sickness and injury are sometimes bring death, especially in unknown places. Tools for making fire is essential too. It is able to light me, avoid animals, and insects. I hate insects so, for me, it is very important. Also, items for hobby is necessary so I will bring some musical instruments like a piano and a guitar. However, I will get other items in the island so there are no stuff to bring. Enjoying survival is most important for us!

ARW Blogging Assignment 6
The most useful approach to use in critically analyzing The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway is the fisherman as Artist. He had not caught the big fish for many days. Ordinary fishermen change their mind and decide to catch many fish whatever the size to live. However, the old man did not change his mind to catch the big fish because his fishing device was for big fish. He was proud of his technique and he trust himself to get big fish. I think it is the artist of the fishing.

How make A Presentation with Google
At first, I was very surprised that we can make a presentation with Google. I'd never made a presentation with PC so I managed to listen Rab's lecture. Also I used Google Image for the first time. I thought it was very very useful. The same day, I used it for the assignment of RCA. In addition to images, with Google, we can add videos to the presentation so I was also surprised too. I was able to know a little why Rab said Google was the best. I want to use Google more effectively.

ARW Blogging Assignment 5
The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him.
Three adjectives that describe Santiago are confident, patient, and lonely. The reason of confident is that even if he cannot catch any fish, he never change his stuff for big fish. According to OMS, his line was strong and made for heavy fish. If there are no fish for a long time, many people change what to get, for instance not only big fish but other much small fish. The reason of patient is that he never quit fishing. Also, he said with turtle's strong body "I have such a heart too and my feet and hands are like theirs." in OMS. The reason of lonely is that in OMS he said he wish the boy were there. In addition to that, OMS says "He had probably started to talk aloud when alone" and he talks aloud many times in OMS.

The reason of faithful is that even if Santiago cannot get fish, he respect him very much and he help him with his daily life and also he believes he will catch the big fish. The reason of sweet is that some scenes, the author describes his kindness. For example, he cried when he looked at Santiago's hands after Santiago's fishing. Also after that Manolin asked Santiago to go fishing with him but he said that he wasn't lucky anymore and Manolin said "I'll bring the luck with me." Santiago asked him how his parents said but he told him that he didn't care about that.

How to make Good Presentation. ~P&D~
I really don't know how to make a good presentation in English so I was very impressed of that. "The order of presentation is like meal in restaurant" made me understood very clearly. Rab explained the order very clearly with some examples. I felt that politeness is important for people in all of the world. I also felt that it is a little hard for me to look at audience in 5 seconds but I have to try to do it.
I want to refer to today's lecture!

ARW Blogging Assignment
The pieces of information I found in sources to use to support my thesis and topic sentence ideas for essay 2 are as follows.
The supporting piece of evidence that I found for body 1 and 2 paraphrased from " The Last Leaf" written by O Henry. I paraphrased from the book that an old artist drew a fake leaf to encourage a woman in serious illness who said " I will be dead when the last leaf was gone." Lying saved her life.
The supporting piece of evidence that I found for body 1 paraphrased from "usotsuki tenngoku nipponn no byousou wo kiru" in Japanese "I criticize a lesion in Japan that is full of lies. " written by Koji izawa. He says lies which can please others is allowed. He used the example, Manzai.
I am searching other good evidences.

The Survival in a Desert
We discussed how to live in a desert with some tools.
My score was 70.
Our group's score was 61.
If I were there, I would die.My idea was that water was the most important for human but experts' idea was that make other airplane with mirror was most important. I was surprised at that.
It was hard decision for me which I choose that I should stay there or walk to a town. Eventually I chose to walk to a town. On the other hand, our group chose to stay there. We never thought a cosmetic mirror was most useful.
I noticed that I should think various way. Also I enjoyed the discussion very much.

Discussion about who we rescue the people with various background.
I felt very very difficult to choose who should I rescue first. In our group, some said we should rescue children first but some also said that we rescued the strong man first and let him save other people. On the other hand some said we should rescue people who cannot swim long like old people, women and children of course. In our group, we did not have much priority on backgrounds, for example whether he had an affair or not.
Rab told us the answer is different Europe and Asia. I was interested in that.
If I were the helper, I would rescue children first and then I would rescue strong person. Also if I were the person who would be helped, I want helpers to rescue children, the old people and women first but of course I don't be the last person too.

ASP April 27th
First we were divided some groups. After watching some videos on YouTube, we discussed the videos. It is difficult to make student who does not participate in a discussion join but I think other students' behavior can change the student's attitude. Also to make good discussion, the words we use as Aizuchi must be English Aizuchi. I want to change that next time.
Then we watched another video. A foreigner speaks KATAKANA English! It was funny. I wondered the circumstance may change how to speak own language. On the other hand I cannot believe him completely because it is possible to act like Japanese.
After that we discussed again. However the theme was hard for me.

・The shocking way to run effective meetings
-Of course the video's way can make us participate in the meeting but participating in the meeting with fear makes no good ideas. We should take part in the meeting independently. That will make good ideas.
・Bad example of a discussion
-all members do not see the teacher.
-Members speak to others at their discretion.
-The leader(?) don't think and says she doesn't have any opinions.
-Some members do not see the speaker.
-There is the member who doesn't say anything.
-There are some menbers who insist only their opinions.
-During the discussion, asking other topic(like lunch time) is wrong.
-Be emotional is bad for discussion.
-Members should listen and think other's opinion and discuss.

Blogging assignment: How do "good" college teachers present information?"
According to Meiland, a "good" college teacher presents information in the following way. Good college teachers present information which means what is currently believed. However they don't present informations like high school teachers' way that the material are presented in an authoritative manner that high school teachers present the material as if it were absolutely and eternally true. In a word a good college teacher presents information with materials in the way that encourage the students to examine the basis on which the information is or should be believed. Also I agree with Meiland's opinion because I think the way of learning in college should be different from high school's. Of course the lecture that teachers talk most of time is necessary but participating in the class positively is important too. Students should have desire for study more by themselves in college.
